Exhibition at Völkerkundemuseum (Ethnographic Museum) in St. Gallen, Switzerland, 2001

The exhibition at the Völkerkundemuseum in St. Gallen was a testament to Brechna's profound connection to the Afghan history, landscape, people, and traditions. Visitors were captivated by a diverse collection of Brechna's paintings, which showcased his unique artistic perspective …”which can be called „Afghan Impressionism”…and deep-rooted cultural inspirations.

The exhibition not only celebrated Brechna's artistic genius but also fostered a deeper understanding and appreciation for Afghan art and culture.

Exhibition at Linden-Museum, Stuttgart, 2003

The Linden-Museum in Stuttgart became a sanctuary for Afghan art and culture during the exhibition of Abdul Ghafur Brechna's paintings. Showcasing a comprehensive collection of his works, the exhibition transported visitors into the heart of Afghanistan's cultural tapestry. Brechna's paintings ”which can be called „Afghan Impressionism”…captured the essence of Afghan traditions, folklore, and landscapes, offering a glimpse into the soul of the nation. The exhibition not only celebrated Brechna's artistic prowess but also shed light on the resilience and beauty of Afghan culture.

Calendar 2001 and Postcards

Alongside the exhibitions, a Calendar 2001 and Postcards featuring Brechna's paintings and drawings were produced in cooperation with the registered German nonprofit Afghanischer Frauenverein e.V. (Afghan Women’s Association), with the support of Kinderhilfswerk Afghanistan e.V. (nonprofit Children’s Support Network). 

The calendar, distributed and sold by interested Afghans in the USA, EU, and Australia, raised funds to support schools in Afghanistan, contributing to the growth and development of education in the country.
